Climate Conditions
The Pilanesberg offers unique safari experiences throughout the year, with each season bringing its own highlights and considerations.
Summer (October – March): | Winter (April – September): |
Summer in the Pilanesberg is marked by warmer temperatures, ranging from 26°C to 30°C, and more frequent rainfall, with the region receiving around 622mm during this period. While the landscape becomes lush and green, which is ideal for photography, the dense vegetation can make wildlife harder to spot. Nonetheless, summer offers beautiful scenery and the opportunity to see young animals born after the rains. |
In winter, controlled burns may occur in certain areas of the park as part of veld management. These are carefully monitored and essential to maintaining the ecological balance. Winter is also a particularly good time to spot lions, as they tend to be less cautious and more visible during the day. |
